Don Quixote is a Spanish epic novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Originally published in two parts, in 1605 and 1615, its full title is The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. A founding work of Western literature, it is often labelled as the first modern novel and one of the greatest works ever written. Don Quixote is also one of the most-translated books in the world.
While it’s considered a great work, other’s have had another view. The guardian reports Despite its genius, author Martin Amis found it unpalatable and, according to the Guardian, wrote that "While clearly an impregnable masterpiece, 'Don Quixote' suffers from one fairly serious flaw — that of outright unreadability. … The book bristles with beauties, charm, sublime comedy; it is also, for long stretches, approaching about 75% of the whole, inhumanly dull."
