"Stalemate in Space" is a science fiction novel written by Charles L. Harness, originally published in 1957. The story takes place in a future world where a conflict between two powerful galactic empires, the Parahuans and the Terrans, has reached a stalemate. This deadlock in space is due to the balance of power maintained by both empires' advanced technology. The plot revolves around the efforts of both sides to break the stalemate and achieve victory. The Terrans, led by the protagonist, the brilliant and resourceful scientist Al Barker, work on developing a new, more powerful weapon that can tip the balance in their favor. However, the Parahuans have their own secret weapon: a telepathic spy who has infiltrated the Terran ranks.
